Hello, newbies to camping here.

Can anyone point us in the right direction for finding 'club site rules'? What are they? Is it compulsory to have a fire bucket for example?

We are heading to a CC site end of this month and after reading some posts I feel like I may upset people on site if i dont do it right ha!!Happy

I have 3 children so I will have to keep them in check aswell.

thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to Club Together.  If you've got a sense of humour you'll be fine.  Happy  I still place a fire bucket at the front of my van; just habit from long ago and besides, where else can I put my yellow plastic ducks?

Hi and welcome. Although the rule is 5mph not all drivers seem capable of achieving this so take extra care of your youngsters.  When you put up your awning enjoy the fact that you'll be providing entertainment for some.

Welcome Dan, with young uns you may well want to complain about the 5 mph rule not being obeyed!  Some sites insist on bikes being ridden in accordance with direction arrows which makes it a lot safer for all.  I nearly ran into a child going the wrong way down a one way system but now I don't assume they will go the right way!  I mentioned my near miss to a warden and she said they can't enforce it as the parents say their kids are on holiday And would linch a warden who complains!  My children were never on holiday where safety was at stake why ruin a holiday by having an accident?  Ball games are fine in the play area of course just not damaging people's vans!  Have a great time. Smile

I have 3 children so I will have to keep them in check as well.

Don't worry. There's no particular dress code for children. Any pattern material will do. Wink

Welcome to CT.

As said by others sites are usually really friendly.  Fire buckets are rarely seen now but we have two fire extinguishers - one at the back near the bed and one near the door, plus a fire blanket.

Most of the rules are commonsense - pick up after dogs, dont play ball games, drive at less than 5mph on site etc

We take our Fire Bucket to some of the Temporary Holiday Site  meets, but to the extinguishers you could add smoke and CO detectors....

DW. . . .1) arrive on site

             2) engage common sense

             3) enjoy

PS, it's your holiday/break so don't worry about what others think. The reality of life on a CC site bears no comparison to this forum. . . .ThankfullyLaughingLaughing

Don't be too hard on yourself, you are pitching up to enjoy a holiday Happy

Just bring along everything you want for all to enjoy the stay, listen to the Wardens short induction on arrival and pitch up, that's all there is to it.

Reading posts on here will put you off for life, real life ain't like it at all. Pitching up and erecting an Awning, you will laugh, you will cry and the kids will hide in a corner but it will all come right Cool

As above, I have caravanned over 35 years with a 3 year lay off. IMO t is a great way for family and kids to holiday. Enjoy ............. I have. Don't be afraid to use non-facility sites and CLs.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy your use of the CC, and that your children do too. I started Caravanning with my own children some 35 years ago, they've never tired of outdoor life and take my grandchildren camping now. Rules start on page 681 of the current handbook, how precise is that! You don't need to read them all as long as you act with consideration towards others, which I'm sure you will. The main considerations which I think people look for are; no dog fouling, no ball games/ running through people's pitches, considerate noise levels and keep speed down. I've found fellow vanners to be universally friendly, keen to help and often knowledgable. CC site children are normally well behaved and polite, one young girl recently offered to carry my partner's bucket full of clothes washing water back to the van for him despite the fact that he's got muscles of steel from working as a part time countryside ranger, chainsawing etc. He declined but was able to identify several species of birds for her, from their calls. Awnings get better, but they can stretch patience. Also you might work towards equal rights with chores. Either of you can fetch water, empty the toilet, brew tea (I draw a line at his cooking though)or connect the electricity. Have a great time with your van and your family.
