Clip on tables

We are looking at certain caravans (Bailey Orion being one) that have clip on coffee table and or clip on dinning table.

I was wondering if anyone had experience of the durability of these?

I get the impression with kids they may easily break.

I just hammer some matchsticks in screwholes and trim to length before rescrewing in these situations

That's just what I've done, (great minds think alike) but could do with a better solution.

They stock these in B&Q and most other DIY outlets. They are actually fitings to use with a cavity - such as a hollow panel door or the wall of a caravan.

There is another version made of rubber that is often used by caravan makers to secure things (such as lights) to plastic panels.  I know them as "well nuts".
