Hi All

Thought we would like to give caravanning a try and have  bought a used Bailey Pageant Normandie.

I contacted Bailey a week ago becuse the VIN plate is unreadable and I have been told  it is a legal requirement to display the gross and tare weight or the van is likely to be seized by police or VOSA.

So far no repsonse other than an acknowlegement that my query has been passed to Bailey parts deparment.

As Bailey don't seem interested in responding with any urgency,  and I would like to use the van this summer, is it OK to use the van  on the road without a legible plate displaying the weights?

I asked Bailey last year for an upgrade plate, and it came through in about a week.  They are individually made.

Nothing to stop you printing your own information on some sticky backed photo paper.

Don't know if its the same with Bailey but on my Swift caravans it was stamped on the chassis just where the handbrake goes through the A-Frame cover.

If you have the cris number from the windows ,and the hand book the information should be enough,

Write your comments here...Agreed and they might even have the Vin number,as I think it has to be registered for a Cris number, but not certain.
