Awning advice please

Hello.

We are new to motorhoming and purchased a used Elddis Accordo 125, which had a Thule Omnistor wind-out awning roof already fitted. We have spent 14 nights in total and enjoyed every minute, rain or shine over the last couple of months.

You will see from the photo that the awning is fitted half way across the entrance door so poorly serves to keep you fully dry going in and out and questions whether it was installed in the correct position from the outset.

The advice we seek is:

Should we move the awning forward so it covers the door completely? This is linked to the second question that we would like to obtain an awning that complements this, e.g. inflatable or similar so that we have the additional cover for sitting / storage when on site. Possibly considering a drive-away awning.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Looking at the picture ,i would suggest the reason it is not further forward is that it can not be done

May i suggest that you try to contact the prevous owner? as i would think it had been investigated before installation

A drive away awning i would think could also be difficult to get a good fit with the shape of the roof and position of habitation door

Another point of contact is Rose Awnings at Poole in Dorset as they are very helpfull and are specialists in Thule omnistore awnings and the fitting of

That awning looks odd but, like JVB, I can see that it will not fit far enough forward to cover the door so I would not attempt to move it.

Tbh, we wouldn't use ours in rough weather so I'd not consider it as a rain porch at all.

I had a Marquis Majestic(Accordo)125 and my canopy only just cleared the door. The problem is the projection of the end capping on the roof join moulding. It may be possibly to pack the mounting brackets out by 15-20mm which may enable you to position the canopy further forward. The other issue is the lack of clearance above the door. You need the canopy almost horizontal for the arms to clear the door.

Would it not be possible to refit it on the roof, but nearer the front, that would also be well above the door. I once saw one like yours fitted on the roof of a Hymer caravan.

We have a thule omnistore fitted to the roof of our Bailey caravan ,but it is a model designed for roof fitting with special fittings for the awning

The brackets on ours are glued to the roof so no holes in bodywork

Thank you so much for your generous responses. We have had the awning moved forward on a Thule Hymer bracket, which stands-off a little more and have also acquired a pump-up driveaway awning. Looking forward to using it a lot this season.
