Attaching awning to steel motorhome - magnets?

We've just bought our first motorhome - a Trigano Tribute 669 high top steel panel van conversion. We are really pleased with it but not clear how best to attach our new Khyam Excelsior 780 away awning. We have had a roof rack fitted using the same type of Fiamma fittings (3 screwed to the van roof) as would be used for a roll out awning so something which attaches to those would be possible. I was intending to buy most  a 3m magnetic strip with a figure of 8 edge but the few (old) user reviews I have seen suggest they don't work well in wind. Does anyone have any recent experience or advice please? Cheers. Ruth
