We are travelling, with a 7.4 motorhome, from Strathclyde to Morvich, early tomorrow morning. We have been warned against the A82, on the banks of Loch Lomond. Help!Carole

I'd advise against using that stretch of the A82 as do many others.

It's not difficult to avoid and you'll see the alternative clearly on the map you'll do well to carry. M9 to jcn 10, A84 to Lochearnhead, A85 to Crianlarich, A82 to Fort William and so on.

Driven it docent of times, caravan or large trailer on the back, never with any problems!

if you are a decent driver it easy! If not well!

I fear you're in a minority on here PR1. Maybe you're some sort of super driver.

Yetiowner, you may find previous threads by searching.

Done this route twice in a Bailey Autograph. Just have to be careful, one or two tricky corners but do-able with care.

We use the A82 route more than the Stirling/Callander route, we go via the Erskine Bridge. Haven't seen the recent improvements but as said, approached with less speed and care on the later sections it's not a bad route. Allow plenty of time with either route.

We have done this route in Motorhomes a few time and I would say if you can avoid it do as meeting ruddy great coaches on the bends( of which there is a lot)  is not a lot of fun, to say nothing of the overhanging rocks.   Now we haul a caravan I will defiantly give that route a miss.

It's the timber Lorries that worry me they seem to care less than the bus drivers!  But it is really only the stretch from Tarbert to Inverrarnan still awaiting improvement.  Just pull in your belt for that bit - or avoid if not so confidant!
