Hi Folks,

After nearly 20 years away from caravanning we’re back, we have been glamping (posh camping)  for the last seven or eight years and for the last two years or so I have been trying to persuade my wife into having a van again and I finally did it 👍🏻We have bought a Bailey Unicorn 2 Barcelona and wow what a piece of kit it is, back in the day we had a six berth Abbey Chess and before that an Avondale Olympus and we loved them both. We took our Bailey out for the first time this weekend and it all went great, our tow car is a Renault Kadjar which will tow 1800 Kg and the van max weight is just over 1600 Kg. The car and van towed fine once I had got up to speed it was setting off and slow manoeuvres that seemed to let the car down as it’s only a 1600cc engine, so i am considering a Landrover Discovery as I also need a lot more boot space for the longer excursions, any thoughts ?

Thanks for reading,

Phil & Mich

We were going to get a Disco but eventually decided on a Mitsubishi L200. Can fit all of the following in carry boy sealed back cab :

2 dogs both in crates, 2 water barrels, wastemaster, awning, windbreak, fishing gear, walking gear, various boxes of food and alcohol and wellies!

Also has the advantage (for us: appreciate not everyone's cup of tea) of keeping the car "bit" separate from all the stuff crammed in cab! It's brilliant if you're packing up in the rain as all the wet muddy stuff goes straight in cab.

Can tow just about any caravan. Also considered Toyota Hi-lux, Nissan Navara and Isuzu Trooper all of which are comparable.

Also a lot cheaper than Land Rover, which was the clincher for us😊
