Just saying hello, Andy & Ceri here, new to the scene, have been doing cruises for the last 10 years and decided to try something new, currently just renting motor homes to see what we like, managed to book a few nights in Chedder at the start of the reopened season (all we could find at this short notice) got to start somewhere.

Welcome to CT Andy & Ceri, Cheddar's not a bad place to start, make sure you get some local cave cheddar! Good luck with the adventure, you might get hooked! smile

Welcome.  Have a great time on your maiden voyage to Cheddar.  Not been to that particular site, although have visited the gorge and Wookey Hole many moons ago.  We’re off to Glastonbury towards the end of the month.  Had a booking for 4th July, but haven’t been able to access our caravan in storage to prepare, so the owners kindly moved our booking.

Good idea to rent first.  Can get some idea of the type of touring you prefer.  It’s a lot of money if you make a mistake buying your first van.

We started of with a panel van (VW Topaz) and loved the freedom it gave us to drive, and park anywhere in it.  However after 3 years we decided to go for something slightly bigger and bought a 5.75 metre coach built.

Next time, wallet permitting we will go back to a panel van (no more than 6 metre) as those dry stone walls in the Dales can be a bit intimidating for the slightly wider coach built.

have just been in ours, filling up tea and coffee, cleaning etc, ready for our first trip since January..can’t wait.

We to commence our 'maiden voyage' on the 4th, had quite a trip booked until COVID but at least can pick up midway on what we had planned, hoping the experience of driving those big red things in London many years ago will help make the experience not too daunting.....

We have camped for many years & always said we will do this in retirement & have jumped in feet first so to speak.....

I can see Saturday becoming something like the film 'Convoy'smile

Stay safe everyone.

Have a lovely trip to Cheddar, lovely site and village , nice walk from back of site to village, would not recommend road way, a very sharp corner ,a bit scary on narrow path. Enjoy 😊.
