Hello all, I am considering purchasing a campervan for me and the dog! Not sure if this is a good solo activity for a female in the autumn of her life, all the posts I’ve read talk about ‘we’ and ‘us’, maybe for good reason?  I am going to try before I buy, so I’m not completely dotty yet!  Any tips, hints or advice would be really welcomed,  thanks.

Go for it. We have met several solo caravanners on our travels and the ladies usualy have a dog or two. Initially use club sites as help is always available but think about joining a centre. Our centre has at least 4 solo members and one very regular visitor. I wouldn't recommend a tourer as some jobs require considerable strength,  based on my wife's comments. There are also a couple of clubs for solo campers.

Went to a historic re-enactment today and talking to one mature lady she told us about New Companions camping club. Sounded ideal for you. She is a motorhomer with a Whippet.

We had the pleasure of meeting a lady last week at Moreton in Marsh, she retired last year. Purchased a Bailey Motor Home, rented her house out and hit the road in September. She has been touring the UK since then with her two dogs.

Go for it smile

Hope your 'try before you buy' goes well.  As you say you are 'a female in the autumn of her life' could be an idea to ensure you have satisfactory breakdown cover for all 3 (campervan, dog and yourself) just in case you need this type of help.  Good luck.
