Hello All

After several years of owning a static caravan we finally sold up and have now purchased our very first touring caravan which we pick up in a few weeks time (Sterling Eccles 580). Our plan is to stay local for the first few outings. We,re travelling down to Cornwall in July and was wondering if anyone could recommend a site for a stop over to break up the journey between Shropshire and Cornwall. We have 2 dogs who would like a site with access to plenty of walks.

Exeter racecourse might suit you, but I really don't know if that is the right distance for you. Good wishes with your new caravan.

There are several CC sites along the way - Hurn Lane, Cadeside and Minnows to name three. If you use the A38 you travel close to Exeter Racecourse site and Stover - both good for dog walking.

The whole route is littered with commercial sites and CLs - you'll be spoilt for choice.

Hope you enjoy touring.  CC site is not far from motorway in Tiverton area & there is a private site Drewsteignton area of the A30 below Exeter. Don't know about dog walks but site info for them may say.   UK Campsite is good for searching. Good Luck.

The Tiverton site is the Minnows as I mentioned earlier. The site leads directly onto banks of the Grand Western Canal and you can walk a long way in either direction along the towpath.

Hi standdeb. Welcome to Club Together.  Hope you enjoy your van and your up and coming trip to Cornwall.  Hope you have a good time.  What site are you staying on in Cornwall?  We use Globe Vale, just outside Redruth.  If you're still looking, its a great site - we'll worth the visit.

Do let us know how you get on with the 'van and the best of luck with it all.

Hello and welcome.

When we go to Cornwall which will be twice up to yet this year we stay overnight at Cadeside CC site at Wellington Somerset. It only has about 12 pitches all hard standing but you have to use your own van for toilet as it does not have a toilet block but every thing else you need is there. We think it's a great little site and the wardens who live on site all year are great,   because the club has a large van and motorhome storage there. It has a great dog walk and is only about two miles off the M5. Don't forget that roadworks between Junction one and two of the M5 will be lasting for 18 months so plan your route to miss that.
