Hi all, just joined and will be picking up a 2016 Auto-trail Apache 634 Hi Line on Saturday. My first Motorhome!

Previous owner says it is possible that there will be no owner's manual for this (I am not even sure if there are owners manuals for Motorhomes!) and therefore wondered if an idiots guide to this type of vehicle and its accessories might be on-line.  In particular it would be nice to know how the basics like water, gas, lights, heating etc. all work.

If anyone knows where to go searching, or if anyone has theirs saved as a document, maybe I could ask for you to email me.  Not sure what the etiquette is on these matters.

I would be very appreciative - and it will give me some reference material when we settle into our first pitch on day 1 and the wife wants her first mug of tea.

Really looking forward to meeting some of you really soon.

As I said, I've seen nothing to persuade me to part with ยฃ15 when there are plenty of other forums out there who let me join and post free of charge and Iโ€™m not desperate for discounts ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

No problem.  Each to his own.  What free motorhome forums do you recommend?

You'd not be interested in brand specific forums but Outandaboutlive is very informative. None are perfect though, but at least one doesn't feel the need to complain when something is free. Talking of which, have you decided whether to fork out £54 and join this club yet? It's highly recommended by some on here.

I'm well suited with the forums I use but the OP may find your response of interest.

No comment re joining.  Don't want to go off piste as it will not help the OP.

Hello and another welcome Alan๐Ÿ˜. Take time to read some of the very informative sections on here. Nearly everyone is limited to UK touring at the moment, but you will find some lovely examples of sites in the UK section, not all Club, and familiarise yourself with the very best bit of being a Club Member, which for many of us is the hugely varying network of Certificated Locations (CLs).

Lots of information about overseas touring as well, hopefully not too far in the future๐Ÿคž

Alan Cousins - Hi, just for info - M’home makes generally have members groups where you may also find help/advice specific to your model if/when needed. Though I’m not a regular poster I have, over time, found CT easy to use with info. by many knowledgeable posters.  Good luck and enjoy your M’home

Something which I would suggest is that you always read the reviews for sites before you book as everyone has their own preferences or requirements as to what type of site they prefer. The sites directory/handbook, amongst other things about a site, tells you how far a site is to the nearest town and how far it is to public transport (which may be relevant if you don't wish to drive once on site).

Thanks everyone who have responded. I have now sourced a users manual and setting off tomorrow for a couple of nights on a CL to spend 2 days pushing all the buttons and twiddling the dials.

Its be great to have this first chat with you all.

AlanC, just talked to a CL owner who had a new M/H owner on site and they got stuck, driving where they shouldn't have. When the farmer came to help, the M/H owner didn't even know where the tow hitch was on his unit, so I suggest that you familiarize yourself with it's location, just in case of emergencies.

Check your spare tyre matches your other wheels. Our bought new Autotrail , now four years old had the wrong one . God knows what would have happened if we had had a puncture on our travels.
