Greetings all,

I was a CC member until emigrating to Canada in 1987 and we are thinking of coming over to the UK / Europe for 5 or 6 months once Covid is over ---

I have been looking into long term rental of a car and caravan and find I can rent a caravan with no problem but finding a regular car equipped with a hitch, such as a Skoda diesel difficult to find and pretty costly. We're not interested in a motorhome.

I was looking at the costs of rental and thought, why not buy an early 2000's car and caravan for the duration and then sell them afterwards. So if anyone can weigh in on the pros and cons, rental agencies they know or have any experience of doing something like this, I'd love to hear from you.

Another thought is swapping our house on Southern Vancouver Island for an outfit for the 5 to 6 months, again anyone with thought, please weigh in.

We have an outfit over here so are no strangers to towing but it is a little different from Europe, The trailer (5th wheel) is 35 feet long, weighs 4 tons and the tow vehicle is a 6.6 litre diesel pick up truck.
