We have just bought a Motorhome, this is the first one we have bought. Any tips, advice for planning our trips for next year. we will be travelling with our beloved Rio, who is a Golden Labrador, aged 13 years, but still likes his walks. We will also be taking our bikes. Would like to visit lots of places, especially Scotland, Lake District, Cornwall/Devon. Any suggestions of MotorHome sites in these area would be a great help, just dont know where to start hoping someone can advise please.

Welcome Oakley, I would start by taking one or two short trips locally to get the hang of things and make yourself out a check list of things to check are done before moving off. As for sites you won't go far wrong by picking any Club site with hardstanding in any of the areas you mention.

Good  advice  from  Peedee  there  !!

Just  do  not  buy  lots  of  the  stuff  you  obviously  will  need surprised !!

If  you  get  a  couple  of  nights  on  some  club  site  or  C L  very  near  to  your  home  you  can  always  nip  back  for  those  silly  things  that  slipped  your  mind(s),    and  after  a  while  you  will  start  to  see  that  some  of  those  things  are  available  cheaply  from  your  own  home wink !

Lots  more  advice  is  available  here  if  you  have  time / patience  enough  to  browse  this  web  site (  not  the  worlds  easiest  to  navigate  but  well  worth  persisting   coollaughing  )

P.S.  find  your  preferred  Anti  Midge  Cream / spray  if  you  head  north  !!  There  are  several  available  -->  Jungle  Formula,  Smidge  That  Midge,  etc  etc  and  even  AVONS  Skin  So  Soft  Dry  Oil  Spray  has  its  aficionados  in  the  Armed  forces  in  Afghanistan ( Honest  innocent !  )

Just a short note from me to welcome you to Club Together and to wish you all the very best for when you get out in your new motor home.  Do let us know how you are doing.

Welcome to The Club, Oakley!

In case you are not aware, a lot of our sites are close to National Cycle Network Routes.

Once you receive your UK Sites Directory, those that are close to the cycle routes are easily spotted.  They have the blue cycle symbol on the site information page.

All of our main Club sites also have a dog walk on site or nearby so I am sure that Rio will enjoy those.

I hope you enjoy your Membership and have lots of lovely days touring.  laughing

A warm welcome to the club and CT from me too Oakley. Why wait for next year to use your new toy, many club and private sites are open all year and we take full advantage of this.

As already mentioned, try to make your first trip close to home but wherever you go I hope all goes well.

Welcome Oakley. Could you expand a little on what you refer to as motorhome sites? Do you mean those sites that are within walking distance of a town/village/pub or perhaps near public transport? There are a surprising number that are but equally a lot of sites that are not so near.

Hi All

I just mean sites that take Motorhomes, to start with would like to be close to a village/pub/local transport, or even cycling distance. Would like to have some positive experiences on our first few visits. We live in Northamptonshire, so will take the advice and do some local overnight stays this year & then travel more distances next year. We dont collect our Motorhome until mid November. Would like to visit most areas of the UK. Any advice on site suggestions would be most welcome or suggestions of anywhere that do reviews on visited sites. Having just joined there are so many subjects to research.

Hi Oakley

Not sure if it will help but on my website I have a list of campsites which I have visited and written reviews on and if you look here I have added a motorhome symbol where I think the site would be useful to motorhomers. It might just give you a flavour of what is available.
