Hi, My wife and I have just joined the club, we live currently live in Canada and are looking to ship our 26' RV over for EU/UK for an extened period and were wondering if anybody had and info on where we could obtain motor insurance and is there a maximum period the veh be used in the EU/UK?

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated

Hello and welcome to the Club and CT. Sounds like a fabulous idea to ship your 'van over - you'll know how it works 😉.

Not sure I can help you on the insurance side at all. But I'll throw these questions into the mix. To get UK/EU insurance does your vehicle need to be registered in the UK? That would then mean UK Road Fund Licence and MOT, annual vehicle inspection for roadworthiness for vehicles over 3 years old.

We have lots of EU registered vehicles over here for visits and they are subject to their own countries rules, and I believe they have a limit on length of time this is permissible before UK rules apply.

Might be a good idea to contact the club, via email, live chat or phone. Not sure about live chat availability at all times 😉. Also heck out the DVLA (driver and vehicle licensing agency) on a government website. I'l try to put a link on here, not always easy! Think I've managed it DVLA a little light reading 😂😂

Remember if you wish to take it back to Canada you may have to reimport it ???

Might be cheaper to buy one here as you arrive and sell on departure. If you were to hire, apart from cost, there is the question of European travel being allowed.

NOTE for EU read European or countries that are closer than Canada 😉😉

Also you will have to consider, depending on where you want to stay/visit where your MH fits in with our emissions regulations. At the moment its only really London that is affected but many other cities are making plans to introduce their own restrictions.

A  &  C,  just  one  thought  --  if  you  intend  taking  your  MH  back  to  Canada  after  " Seeing  The  World" laughing  will  you need it  cleaned  to  comply  with  Canadian  Import  Rules  ??

Hey G, this company, Adrian Flux, seem to have an answer. I have previously insured my caravan with them.  Might be worth talking to them.  Worth noting that they are not covered by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) but by the Maltese equivalent:

Welcome Grayshon81!

With regard to live chat, we are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm.

As Oneputt said, Arian Flux should be able to help.  They are a specialist insurer.

The best of luck to you!
