Shane & Shirley here just saying hello.

At last we have finally bought a motor home, we have both camped many times, Shirley gave up on camping many years ago but we did have a final camp together at Womad Festival in 2016.

We bought a Ci Autoroller in mid November but its gone straight into storage until March, Shirley will be taking a Motorhome Manoeuvring Course with the club on the 11th to refresh her driving a larger vehicle skills.

we are planning our first trips to Brixham, Weymouth & Tewksbury to start with, in the Summer we are starting to plan longer trips possibly to Switzerland first. Later in the year we are hoping to travel to Portugal the slow way for Christmas (similar to a blog we found on the internet) avoiding toll roads to allow us to stop off as often as we like along the way.

We would love to hear from with any tips for beginners and seasoned travellers who have taken on long trips abroad,

Many Thanks for all of the replies, encouragement and links to good advice for us newbies. People said that this is a friendly club and this has been a very nice welcome.

The van is still in storage at the moment but it's only 5 weeks untill we tax it and we can't wait for our adventures begin.

Great to hear from you again Shane & Shirley.  Do let us know how you get on when you take the Motorhome away for the first trip.  Any question, just ask away in the appropriate section.

Best wishes

David

Hello Everyone

Well it's nearly time to hit the road, our first trip will just be an overnight in Weston Super Mare at Easter. There has been a lot to do and the weather being well below freezing delayed glueing shelves into the storage lockers and wardrobe. So much to learn flight helped enormously by handy tips here. Today was a major shop for all the bits & bobs we needed such as hosepipe, melamine dishes etc etc.

One question we have is can you call into any club site or CL even if you are not staying for servicing i.e. topping up with fresh water, waste disposal etc if so is there a standard charge.

Many Thanks Shane & Shirley

The club do not provide this facility for people not staying on site, Shane. It’s an old chestnut. CLs are not governed by the same rules as club sites but, as most of them charge very little for an overnight stay, I think it would be an imposition to ask for a favour without being a paying customer.

The other club, C&CC, allow it but charge something like £7 for 3 hours use of facilities. I don't know if it’s available to non-members of that club.

Good luck with your first outing.
