"Hell everyone"

I suggest you amend the title of your thread in case it becomes propheticπŸ˜‚

Whatever you do for wifi, do not rely on the club's appallingly unreliable service😀. I tether my Pad to my phone and use its data allowance. Some people run Mifi units. It’s a matter of what suits you.

Enjoy your van.

We also tether our wifi to our phones. We carry 2 phones with a different providers SIM in each so that we should in theory always have some sort of signal. It helps that the 2 SIMS monthly renewal fall at different times during the month about 2 weeks apart.

I agree with TW that the Club wifi seems to cause a lot of problems for members who sign up to it. We've never used it so can't offer an opinion. Just going off how often complaints arise on this forum about it.

Good luck with your new Hell on Wheels.

Maybe a mod might help out and amend the title for the OP.

Whoops I do not know how to amend the subject line or delete it I’ve tried

Sorry, it’s too late now. The edit window is only open for a few minutes.

Never mind, you gave us a giggle and a mod will probably spot it as WN said. πŸ˜€

Tethering from your mobile phones data is as suggested the simplest option. Our experience of the club wifi is generally very poor and only allowed one device to be connected at a time, logging in and out process is not very stable and can get very fustrating.

We use EE with a 40GB monthly data allowanceon 4G and will run two tablets and catch-up TV through a roku freeview. Streaming via the roku uses about .5GB/ hour.

With regards to your options I'd definitely go with the motor mover before anything else.

Hope you have luck figuring out the new booking system!πŸ˜€

I have posted on here before about the system which I  installed at the beginning of this year.  I use a TP Link router, Poynting aerial attached to a 10' mast which is secured to the jockey wheel with a standard caravan aerial bracket. I have an EE data sim - £50 for 120Gb which has lasted almost a year and it's in use for a week or two, most months when we are away. I have now tested the system over a number of sites throughout the country and I am consistently getting in excess of 50 Mbps download speed.  In fact when at a CL at Flamborough on the East Yorkshire coast, last month (not the most highly populated of areas!), I was getting in excess of 85 Megs.

More than adequate for what you are anticipating using.  I agree with others above - don't waste your money on the Club's offering - it's useless.  Also be wary of 'free' wifi - it's invariably not secure.  From experience, I would also advise against having a sim on a contract basis since when you are not away, you are paying for something you're unable to use.

Tethering to a phone is the simplest answer - but, again, from experience, you are reliant on your phone's aerial to pull in the signal which might not be that good.  The Poynting aerial certainly is effective.

Tethering to my phone works well for me; acknowledging the coverage issues for some sites. I buy monthly Goody Bags from Giffgaff which allows you to essentially buy larger amounts of data when you are away then get the cheapest (and smallest) amount when you are not.

I tend to only stream live sport - everything else is downloaded from Netflix / iPlayer etc at home.

Welcome to Club Together Vince and Bev.  Look forward to reading your posts, and especially how you get on with the caravan.   Regarding Wi-Fi etc....  we just use our phones and tether other devices to it....
