Just ordered a caravan, our first, due early 2018.

The reality is hitting home of the required preparations, have opened a discussion elsewhere on towbar advice needed.

Aiming to learn how to caravan in 2018, with hopefully a long distance adventure or two in our retirement thereafter.

Congratulations on ordering your new van and welcome to the Club.  There will be folk around to help.  If you have any specific questions, just post them up in the correct section.  What van at you getting Inside Left?

Hello and welcome to CT and our great hobby. Plenty of advice on here just ask away. First trip stay local, you can pop home for forgotten items 😉. Don't go buying things you think will be useful - most of us have sheds with such in 😉, proves they weren't essential or useful.

Good  advice  there,  IL,  I'd  just  remind  you  that  a  "Recording  Device"  at  the  Handover  will  be  a  Godsend.  I'm  not  suggesting  that  the  seller  is  likely  to  con  you  --  far  from  it,  but  so  much  verbal  info  will  come  your  way  that  you  wont  be  able  to  remember  it  all.  (  None  of  us  could  or  did,  believe  me  embarassed  )

Then  in  a  few  decades  time  you  can  replay  the  recording  &  wonder  what  was  so  complicated wink !!

Enjoy  the  toy,  and  enjoy  those  pleasures  to  come  --  but  keep  popping  on  here  &  telling  us  what  you  have  been  up  to   !!

In response to the question of which van? We're jumping at in the deep end with a Crusader Storm.

I intend to take it cautiously and am booked on a Practical Caravanning course in February prior to picking up the caravan. We also intend to learn how to caravan locally in 2018 before getting carried away on a distant adventure.

ask the dealer to uprate your mtplm, I believe it can go to 1800kg and won't cost extra but will cost if you want to do it afterwards. what is your tow car.

go on the website--www.towcar.info and put the details in of car and van as I am guessing on what xc60 and year of yours and it give over 90% advised match and for a beginner could be a bit daunting as most clubs recommend an 85% or lower match for beginners. just a thought.
