Hi,

We are trying decide whether to book Le Brasilia or L'Amfora for upto 6 weeks next summer. We have several children to entertain aged from 3- 14. Have been to Brasilia and enjoyed it in the past, however over a decade ago. Wondering if anyone has any advise or may have experience of both and can advise please.

Depends on which area you want to visit, Catalonia or Canet en Roussillon, very different regions.
We stayed at L’Amfora, at Sant Pere Pescador, last summer, very good campsite, right on a beautiful, if windswept beach.  Very popular with kite surfers.

We didn’t have any kids with us, and I really think you’d be struggling to keep them entertained there for more than a week.

We haven’t stayed at Brasilia, so can’t compare.
Enjoy planning. 🙂🌞🌞

Even in the past we have left Mediterranean sites early and gone elsewhere because it was too darn hot.  With summer temperatures as they have been this year I wonder if you are wise to commit yourself to six weeks at any campsite down there.

Not stayed at Le Brasilia but have at Les Sablons at Portiragnes Plage which I imagine is similar. We have also stayed at L'Amfora which is a nice enough site but as Pliers says is there enough there  to keep you entertained for that length of time. Mind you I can recommend the The Salvador Dalí Museum in Figueres, which is not far away. Even the younger members of the family might find it a bit whacky!

Haven't stay at Le Brasilia but have stayed at L' Amfora a fair few times.

We used to take our children just a few kms further down the coast to Camping Las Dunas for 3 weeks in the summer holidays. We drove down from north Germany. We had our own caravan so a car to get around in.

There are lots of places you can go and explore with children we used to seek out quiet coves with rocks where the children could snorkel.

Most of the big sites ( Amfora is huge) have good animations over the holiday period. The beach is excellent and while it can get windy at times we never experienced it during July/ August the breeze off the Pyrenees is welcome when it gets hot.

If you don't mind driving there is a nice drive around the coast to Roses and further up into the hills to some nice villages there.

I guess it all depends on what you and the children like to do. Amfora has a big swimming pool, supermarket and restaurant with bar. There is music entertainment most evenings during the holidays. The nearby town of L' Escala is only a short drive away, we often went there of a night time to eat out.

Just a bit further down the coast is L'Estartit which is a little more lively with go carting and the such likes.

We have stayed at Brasilia for over twenty years either May/June or end of August - sometimes with three of our grandchildren in the May Bank Holiday. It is an extremely well run site, very pleasant staff and every facility you might want.  It perhaps caters really for children of all ages and there is plenty of things for them to get involved in.
