Back in the fold

Hi all, newbie to the CC forums but been vanning since I was 8 and was a CC member up until about 5 years ago, but have now rejoined the fold.

Previous vans are Sprite 400 and Bailey Maru with my parents in the 70's, and used the Bailey for my own family's holidays during the late 80's and 90's.

In 1998 I bought and refurbished my first van, a 1972 Sprite Musketeer to bring it upto modern specs with water heater, shower, blinds and flyscreens etc. I loved that van until in 2001 gales brought down the barn it was stored in :(

Next up was a monster of a van... The Swedish tank-like Polar 470 built in 1982. Fully winterised with a Primus wet heating system and an external temp gauge which read down to minus 25 celsius! Heavy and ugly, I couldn't stand the looks any longer so bought a 1987 Mardon Meridian 15/2EK in 2003 (by this time the kids weren't interested). Lost that in a divorce and have been vanless for the last 5 years until this month when my new partner (and touring newbie) and I found a 1994 Compass Pentara 460/2 in immaculate condition and cheap from a dealer clearance. Blimey, it's well specced up compared to my old vans.Surprised We're in the process of getting it ready for winter touring and hope to have a few days away before Xmas. My partner is really looking forward to it.

The only problem we have is that there were no manuals with this van so I have posted a request in the Tech Issues forum for help. Dunno how all these new (to me) gadgets work!

So anyway, that's me... I'll be popping in regularly so see you around Smile
