Another newbie to this great world

Hi

This is my first post in this forum, so I'll start by introducing myself. I'm Alejandro, and I'm totally new to this world. When I was a kid, my parents were about to buy a caravan, and I was very excited about it, but in the last minute they decided not to do it. Since then, I always wanted to try it, and this year finally we bought our first van.

The first weekend out has been this one, we went to Lower Wensleydale. The experience has been great: the kids (2) really love it, my wife was very pleased, and even the dog seemed to be happier. It is a different concept of holidays, even towing the caravan is pleasant. We are that pleased that we are considering spending Christmas in the caravan! (a bit more about it, including many questions, in my second post)

The plan is to try and go out, at least once a month (better twice), so hopefully I will be posting stories, and asking lots and lots of questions, from now on.

In summary, I think the caravaning bug has bitten us, and it is great!

Hi Alejandro, welcome to you and your family!

We've only had our caravan for a year but can confirm that the feeling of how great caravanning is seems to last indefinitely. Every time we're away in the caravan we ask ourselves 'why didn't we buy a caravan sooner?'

We also try to get away at least once a month (with 2 kids too), and why not - it's usually cheaper to go away for the weekend in the caravan than it is to take the family for a meal at a restaurant.

Welcome, Agarta. You and Matty both have the bug which first caught me in childhood. I'm an OAP now and still afflicted.Laughing

Hi Alejandro, welcome to both you and your family, Glad that you've enjoyed your first trip out. You should be able to book a site for X-Mas but will find that most CC sites are already booked up for the New Year. It's great fun being in the van at that time of the year.
