Who is worried about offending others?

I do find, that when I am reading discussions that I am afraid to comment in the negative so I just don't bother. I can't work out whether I am doing it because I don't want to offend, or whether I just don't want criticism of my opinion and be cast into the dark unknown with everyone rounding an attack on me. Anyone else feel this?

Artyboo

You are just describing self censorship. Avoid certain topics, and you know what they are and you will be alright or say what you think and wait for them to circle.

Personally I don’t give a toss and for every bully here  I have made an equal number of friends, some  I meet and others still email friends yet.

AD, it's a case of being part of the problem or part of the solution. It's incumbent on us all to be part of the solutionHappy

So, please tell us, Arty (Boo, not the other one), has anything you've read here removed your nervousness about posting? As you can see, the vast majority of people believe it's OK to disagree as long as it's done with respect. Most people here are decent and polite.

Write your comments here...  Hi Tinny, I am not nervous per-se however, the forum DOES get a little heated now and again over what SOME might see as trivia. I am not a shrinking violet by any means and if I feel strongly enough I will comment. Often, I just want to write 'what a load of b.......ks, but that would not be polite or respectful: therefore I don't write anything

Thanks, Arty. I think, as has been said, the secret is to remain respectful of the person while tearing their argument to shreds in as diplomatic way as possible. Some people obviously don't care about the feelings of others and they really don't deserve the level of respect most of us try to maintain. Keep on posting your views - don't let the odd few put you off.
