Just checking, I loaded this pic to FB (430 pixels wide) making it visible to "only me" and drag and dropped it here.

You can tell its raining here I am still at my desktop!

We're off to the Ardeche to rendezvous with our grandsons for a few days. here's a publicity photo from the campsite's webpage.

Drag and drop technique works on public webpages. That's not us by the way! Looking forward to a quiet few days!!

That looks a bit like us, nineteen years ago, when my eighteen year old son came with us with several of his friends, and we had three pup tents on our pitch - and lots of teenage girls, too!  Different site, though, and we were still left with plenty of room - unlike those pitches!

Goldie 146.  Sorry about the silage photo being distorted - just a test/trial.

I don’t put photos anywhere except my laptop so can’t drag & drop as I see peedee, chasncath & DavidKlyne do.   Can only drag & drop with other’s photos posted on here or post my own then drag & drop the picture thus giving a larger one of the same photo.  Having said that I’ve learned how to do it so feel I’ve achieved something.  Maybe I'l learn how to delete the smaller one of mine that I post to leave only the large one in place eventually.   I find it interesting that DavidKlyne’s recently posted  large photo is different because it has scroll bars.  Once  again apologies.

The confusion with the scroll bars is that I misunderstood what Peedee meant when he suggested posting a photo from Facebook would be automatically resized. It does do this but only in kb size not pixel size hence the scroll bars. Some of my photographs are as large as 10000kb originally so I resize and edit all my photos but to post them here I have to further reduce the pixel size to 500pixel width for discussions although you can get away with 650 pixels wide in stories as the text pane is wider. I hope that makes sense?

David – Thanks for clarifying scrollbars.  I learned originally through chasncath how to reduce my own photos to post on CT.  I find the sharing of info on CT very helpful & pick up many tips on various subjects

peedee – I guess weather forecast was done using ‘snipping tool’ & CT program adds the scrollbars.  Looks good anyway, enjoy it wherever you are.

When people are talking about dragging and dropping, what exactly do you need to do?  Where do I pick up the original (my computer, photobucket, elsewhere?), where do I drop it to (into the post I'm creating, or elsewhere) and how exactly do I make it bigger (this is the bit I have problems with as it doesn't seem to resize whatever I do ).   I can post a picture without problems, from my laptop, but no matter what I do it stays small, and people will run out of patient if I keep trying and there are 'Deleted User' messages everywhere.

If the explanation is too long to post on here, can someone email me at valdaathome@gmail.com with a step by step explanation.  Normally I have no bother, but on this forum it bothers me that others can do it with ease, but I can't!

Val,

First of all you need somewhere to store your photo on the web. I have suggested Facebook because I know that works and many folk use it. Just post your photo on FB and load it for viewing by you only. If you want it to fit exactly to the width of a post, then resize it to something not greater than 500 pixels wide before up loading it to FB. If its larger it won't matter but when it is dragged and dropped into a CT reply from FB it will appear with scroll bars or members can view the larger picture by right clicking on it and selecting "View Image" Once you have it on FB click on it to open it fully. Log into CT using another tab and select your reply. Click and hold the FB picture and drag it onto the CT tab and position it roughly on your reply, then let go of the mouse click. It should be visible in your reply and you can now post your message to CT.

All this is done using a Firefox browser running windows 7. I do not know if it works with IE but I don't see why it should not work with other windows version. I seem to recall you are a FB user so try it. It does work with other web storage areas but not all. I could not get it to work with Dropbox but no idea if it will work other on line public storage areas.

Hope you can follow the above.

Just tried with IE11, it doesn't work so unless you have Firefox you will not be able to do the above.
