Star Chasing - Not!

Firstly, I apologise in advance if this thread is in the wrong section. After much thought, I decided to post in How to Use CT because it concerns the use of CT.

I have a sense of humour, for which I do not apologise, and tend to post mostly in a lighthearted manner as I believe life is to be enjoyed and is too short to spend being miserable. This forum is, after all, about a pleasant leisure time activity which we all share. I am retired and, like many others, am fortunate to have a fair amount of spare time. The result is that I spend quite a bit of time on CT - it is often better than the TV and helps keep the mind active. Therefore, given my spare time and my lighthearted nature, it is inevitable that I very often make a lot of posts throughout the course of a day and many will be in the lighter vein. I am not alone in these respects.

What irks me, and I wonder if others feel the same, is the accusation of star chasing. Stars mean nothing, they have no value, no kudos, nothing at all, so why do some people think that lots of posts must mean star chasing? I see some, so called, serious posters placing one post after another down the page when all the comments, even if addressed to different individuals, could be encompassed in one or two posts. Nobody accuses them of star chasing but others, like myself who post a lot as described above, are frequently labelled as star chasers. Is it jealousy because some people perceive online friendships between others? Is it sour grapes because they, too, would like more stars - a form of star chasing in itself? Whatever, I am, frankly quite sick of the unjustified accusations. I accept people have the freedom to post as they like, within the constraints of the T&Cs, and have no issue with their manner or frequency of posting, so why should anyone feel they have the right to say such things of me or others?
