Spam post update

Hello everyone,

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that the recent spam postings on the Club Together discussion boards have caused.  We totally understand your frustrations and thank all our CT members and champions who have worked very hard along with my colleagues to report and remove spam postings as they occur, this has been extremely helpful.

As Club Together is an open forum it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to prevent these spam postings. In the short-term we’ve decided to stop automatic registrations for the next 24-48 hours. This will mean we can manually assess all registrations and hopefully reduce the automated spam postings of late.

As we want to continue to welcome both members and non-members on Club Together we are working on longer-term measures to prevent these spam postings and a quicker response to removing nuisance users.

We would like to make it clear no data has been compromised, these posts are by no means a virus nor has Club Together been hacked.

There is no way that any of these posters can access any personal information held by The Club. In the same way that you only have access to your own profile, they only have access to theirs.

We appreciate your continued patience. Any updates will be posted on this discussion.

Many thanks,
Daisy

UPDATE - 6 August 2015 - 9.45am

Hi everyone,

We’re sorry that Club Together has experienced another flurry of spam postings this morning. We have turned off the automatic registrations again and will be manually activating accounts until we can implement a long term solution.

Thank you again to the mods for their quick response time and also to you all for reporting the posts.

Thanks,
Daisy
