Seeing Things?

I keep trying to open posts, but when I get to where they should be via a link, they are just not there (Surfers "Aaaargh" thread) Are they being Deleted User? If so, why does the link exist. 

Also, given that so many threads do get Deleted User, for one reason and another, is it beyond the Website designers not to be able to indicate to users that the particular thread is closed, before you have a read through, get to the end and then find out that something you are interested in has been closed. Just changing the colour of the link on the page would help!
