I've started a thread just entitled 'Photos and Video' so as not to hi-jack the more specific Ipad related thread already started,  Hopefully this will give people the opportunity to discuss any general questions related to photos and perhaps to experiment posting.

Hope this helps.

Lets see if I have the hang of this now? It looks as if I have. What I did was to take a picture from my website, resize (600x450) and rename and load it to a hidden page on the website. From there I was able to drag and drop. Be interesting to know if you can load a slightly larger photo into the main text of a story. Looks as if the Story Section is back in business?

Ah, I seem to have succedded. I think where I was making the mistake I was trying to drag from Firefox into Chrome, which of course, does not workembarassed I only downloaded Firefox last night and have also put in place the tab add-on so that I can work side by side.

I will try a larger picture to see what happens, that won't work as it just copies the photo into the browser not the post. How do others resize? I do have the option of loading the correctly sized photographs into a new webpage and working from there but not everyone has that option.

Thanks to those who have helped, especially Chas and David and no I didn't mind the use of the photos.

David

In the past I've used 'easythumbs', setting the max width to 430 for 'discussions' and 600 for 'stories' . I've now taken to using the 'paint' utility in windows- resizing to 600 pixels wide with 'maintain aspect ratio' selected. You can also add text or copyright mark.

You seemed to have squashed your photo a bit! I've dragged it by 'viewing image' and then dragging back into here. When resizing, only set the width, and allow the resize to set the proper height. I've got two tabs side by side logged into CT to make things 'easier'. Looking at the page code it has 'shrink to fit' before the photo address.http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/NorwichFlowers111.jpg

Tried drag & drop using 2 tabs using plane from an earlier post of mine. It showed up large here but went back to original size when I clicked on reply so removed it. Text now appears down the page.

Just a test as text went awry in the previous trial of drag & drop photo experiment.  Seems OK now.

FAO chasncath.   “drag and drop from your url.”    I am not much good at understanding the mechanics/techy bit of this but when you say url I guess you mean the extra tab I had open which I thought was part of the CC site. For whatever reason it just put the link there instead of the picture for me.  When I enter it into my web browser it brings up the picture at the size you put in the main body.  I shall try this method again later - it's certainly challenging me.  Thanks for sorting it.

I opened a second tab in my browser and pasted "https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/globalassets/discussions/85da85d0-3061-44f1-8721-d57f5db28320 " into the adress bar.

Your photo appeared in its full size. I then left clicked (and held) on the photo and dragged the little rectangular emblem towards the other tab. The other tab then opens up again and, having positioned the rectangle in my awaiting blank reply ( having already placed my cursor in the blank reply as if about to type), released the right button.

Bingo! a full-width photo in place!https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/globalassets/discussions/85da85d0-3061-44f1-8721-d57f5db28320/

I'm sticking with the present method! I can't replicate what you are doing CnC and I'm glad after x number of years I can at least add a photo!
