New posts in topics

It shows that there aer 20 new posts in a thread and this is highlighted in red, however you still have to search for the first of the 20 posts.  On many other forums clicking on the red number would take you to the first of the new 20 posts.

Some topics have in excess of 50 replies and to trawl through the lot can be disheartening as a lot of posts have no relevant info and are just banter or have strayed off topic.  Some threads were started a year ago and have obviously become outdated, but people still post on the thread bring it to the forefront.

This then pushes recent post further down the line and quite often after going through 3 - 4 pages of the thread, not posts, I give up and miss the new posts.  Are moderators allocating a new post in a new thread to an existing thread?

Granted I cannot suggest anythuing to improve this and whether other people also find it annoying, but perhaps something cna be done?
