Changing Font Colours - Can I ?

With these old eyes of mine, I use reading glasses, however I've always struggled with white writing on black backgrounds, having a sort of retinal burn imprint of the page, when I look away.

Occasionally I get a sickly feeling when reading such font and as a result, I shy away from reading large amounts of light text on dark backgrounds.

Guess what....

The opening posts on CT have the same effect and after reading them I have to let my eyes settle before looking down at the responses and even the shorter responses leave an imprint or burn.

Is it possible to set viewing preferences at my end, to get rid of the white over green font colours ?

Thanks,

K.
