Why is it that after only a few minutes of inactivity on the forum ,you get logged out .It is very annoying. When im at work i have to log in about 12 times a daysurprised Surely it should be left to the member to log out.Your views please.

It is OTT. Once logged in to the forum I can see no reason not to stay logged in for many days. If you were to then attempt access to a "more secure" feature such as booking a site, cancelling a site or changing personal details than one could be required to re-verify login credentials at that point, but for forum posts it should not be required.

The HMRC site does exactly that - at the point of submitting tax return or VAT return etc one is required to enter username password again, for "less critical" transactions its not required.

Logged in at work eh. Perhaps your IT people where you work log you out as a hint that you should be working not posting or reading posts on a caravan website during working hours. OK will now take my tongue out of my cheek!

I may well be wrong but if everyone who logged in stayed logged in all day (whether they were active on the site or not) wouldn't it overload and perhaps crash the CC server?

It's not necessary to log in when browsing but only if one wants to post a reply/book a site etc.

I'm quite slow at typing in my replies and questions and many a time before I can complete my reply I'm automatically logged ou

I think best practise under current circumstances is if you are typing a long post/reply is to copy before pressing the reply button. At least that way if you get logged out you log in again and paste into a new reply.

It's not only happening when there is inactivity, many times when I have started on a post on here and have pressed on the reply and nothing happens, only to find that I have been logged out without my consent. The only way round this is for myself to type faster.frown

Being aware that one could be logged out & if you have the machine to do so it may help to type a long reply in another document [eg Word] & then copy it, sign in to CC & go to where you want to post your reply & paste it in & click on reply.
