Are we doomed?

Does anyone else fear for the future of this forum? Do you feel we are being treated like second class citizens?

A couple of posters have mentioned the staff input on the FB page recently and, yes, there they are. The staff members who were introduced here are actually posting on FB but, largely, ignoring the forum. (A word in praise of CL Maddie wouldn’t go amiss here - she’s head and shoulders above the rest.)

As for staff members being moderators here, what a joke! Even a visit from the CM is a rarity these days.

Then we have information about a review of the booking system being given in an interview to a commercial magazine. Hello there! What about us? We are the members who pay our membership and site fees which ultimately pay staff wages yet we are ignored on this and most other issues. It’s simply not good enough, CAMC.

Given the lack of staff input from all levels to this forum, it’s no wonder that the same old moans go around and around debating the same old topics. A bit of informed input from those who have the knowledge and ability to do so could turn this forum around from the appalling shop window of the club it is now into a pleasant, entertaining, informative place to attract new and present members.

I’ve not opened the can of worms that is the shocking software performance of this forum as that is a whole separate issue but am concentrating here on the apparent shabby treatment of users of this forum which borders on an insult when you see what happens elsewhere as I’ve outlined above. It seems to suit CAMC to mostly ignore this forum's existence.

As staff appear to answer questions which appear on Facebook, we should have a sticky called 'What question should we ask staff on Facebook?'.  Someone could then offer to post on Facebook all those contentious topics which aren't answered on here!  (Put's tin hat on and retires behind Fence).

I have reported your post Tinwheeler, in line with Rowena's post.

Cheers, Bakers. I assumed that she’d see it as she appeared to be around but who knows?

No chance of that Val as the questions/queries that are normally posted on here are far to complicated/inteligent for face bookwink

It wasn’t my intention to knock FB or its users, JV, but to put the case for the seemingly downtrodden CT.

Agree TW, I am sure FB has its place, and perhaps I was harsh criticising it. And good to get such an early input from Rowena. I do think CY has a valid point CT doesn't have 400,000 contributors, it would be good if it actually had a regular 4,000! I am currently trying to think of some new HQ based topics that might improve discussions, and get a bit more banter and debate flowing.

Thankyou for your input, Rowena. I note what you say about reading, listening and staff contribution but, sadly, the appearance created is very often to the contrary.

Can you throw some light on the issue of the booking system being rehashed? It’s rather odd that no staff member has commented on this issue when thread after thread has appeared and run on at great length about the perceived shortcomings. A couple of sentences would have sufficed and let people know they were being listened to as the lack of input creates the appearance of everything being ignored.

Hi Tinwheeler, I don't have any information on this personally but have forwarded your post to get some feedback.

Sorry but even one of the original owners of face book has stated publicly that he wishes it had not been started as he did not realise the damage to society it would course

Okay........ I have a bit of a trawl around the website, and buried deep, not (to me) very obvious, is a section called Club News. Here is a huge range of items about a lot of what is going on in the Club, details of all sorts of items about how sites are developing, new initiatives etc... All very interesting and possibly the catalyst to get debate and comment flowing, and answer some of those basic questions that from time to time are asked on CT. If the Club news section was made more prominent, even perhaps a section on CT with links, this might just be an idea to make things a tad more interesting, catch the attention of more members browsing CT itself. A lot of the items are big talking points, and there seems to be a lot in there that I suspect a good few members are unaware of, unless they read the Club Mag from cover to cover, or subscribe to other media outlets dealing with touring, camping and holidays, such as MMM, or "out and about live"
