Hi all!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but after a quick search I couldn't find anything, so apologies if this has indeed been asked a million times!! 😬

My wife and I are new to motorhoming and wondered what the etiquette is with regards to awning pitches. We don't have one, but have noticed when booking a site, a 'With awning' is sometimes the only option available to us. Can I book this even though I don't have an awning, or is this bad form to take a With-awning pitch when I won't be using one?

Many thanks!

Davey

Book away, you are free to select any type of pitch you want, irrespective of wether you want to put up an awning. We almost always select an awning pitch. At many sites there  are only a few non awning pitches and you limit your choice if you select one.  There are a few sites where we would select non awning, Warwick being one of them. At some sites you can only select an awning pitch, as that’s all there is,

With a motorhome, (and no other vehicle) you can use a roll out canopy even on a non awning pitch, but it mustn’t have any sides in. Awning pitches tend to give you more space, so lots of folks book them, even if they don’t have an awning.

Another reason for booking a with awning pitch is that non-awning pitches are sometimes set in odd corners without a lot of space around them. The downloadable site plans will show you where they are.

Whatever the site and and pitch if you have never been there before a look at the site plan before arriving is always a good idea.
