Hi Hobby7878

We have a Phanton Sentinel tracker/alarm fitted to our MH, app on the phone tells me where it is plus other details, battery mileage etc, this has been discussed multiple times on forum, some like some don't, personally piece of mind plus reduced insurance cost, check model gives discount. all the best

I have Phantom on  mine (came ready fitted). The annual fee is not cheap but the reduction on the insurance premium goes some way towards it. I doubt if you would get an insurance reduction on a DIY job from Ebay.

BTW

There is a Facebook Group for Hobby owners and I think you would find it useful especially as regards security

My 2012 caravan came with 12 months phantom subscription from nre. When I registered it there was either a deal to increase to 3 years or to add 3 years - can't recall which. At that time the resultant cost was very little more than the insurance saving. However to renew subsequently I decided that the cost had increased and to do away with the subscription and pay a small increase in insurance. The present caravan came with a 12 month subscription and I decided that as the renewal cost was quite high it was not worth it to me compared to the small insurance increase.

Mine also came with the first year subscribed to Phantom and when I insured the Hobby having a tracker resulted in a £93 discount. Given that for obvious reasons its a very attractive van to thieves I will almost certainly renew .

I can understand that David. I think that my last caravan was 4 years old when I stopped the Phantom. Given that theft was unlikely anyway from its storage and from many sites, that it was relatively expensive compared to insurance discount I reckoned that, in the unlikely event of theft that I would just as soon receive the new for old replacement price as have it returned damaged.

I am one of those not in favour of trackers, preferring to to spend money on stopping theft in the first place. I have also not found the insurance discounts worthy of the cost either, Before you fit a tracker I would check with your insurance company to see which makes and models they give discounts for fitting. They usually have to be Thatcham approved.

I'm with Peedee on this one but mainly for the reason that I wouldn't want the van back after stolen
