Gaslow (and Alugas, GasIt etc) sell 11kg refillable tanks which hold around 22ltrs....my single bottle system cost £300.

a fair comparison I'd say.

an advantage of the Gaslow system is that it can be moved to another van down the line...

I think that the installation cost of the tank would be quite a bit more as it needs to go underneath in the chassis with new pipework to a fixed exterior fill point then into the gas manifold whereas the refillable cylinders are fitted into the existing gas lockers. A fixed tank is “on” all the time but on my motorhome it has a Truma “crash valve”.

Autosleepers fit an LPG tank as standard and it’s a great feature being both convenient and using less space than a gas locker. It’s nice that when you stop the fridge switches automatically to gas with no manual intervention.

I can see that being a disadvantage if it tries to light the gas on a petrol forecourt! 😲

There is an in built delay in the automatic switch to gas of around 20mins to take account of just such a scenario 😊

Just in case MM's wondering, the controls do have to be set to allow the auto changeover otherwise it would try to run on gas on ferries and other inappropriate places. frown

My fridge shows gas supply straight away. I can’t see a problem with a filling station, the gas ignition is enclosed inside the fridge and inside the motorhome. Some motorhomes are able to use gas heating on the move in the habitation area although my AS model prevents that.

I think it depends on the manufacturer and fridge; ours certainly has a delayed start after it has been running on 12v.

Incidentally TW Brittany Ferries no longer seem to bother or require the gas to be switched off.

Maybe they’ve realised it’s often near impossible with tanks unless you crawl underneath. Some are happy for the internal valves to be turned off and some don't even ask.

Ok after further consideration and the comments (thanks) above I am now thinking of one of these.

Ah,   I can see I have posed a similar question on another thread.  That company seem to have a an Ebay shop as well, I think the prices are a little dearer on Ebay but include delivery.

I'm now looking at the same cylinder but with the UK only connector as we won't use the euro adapters....

Be interesting to see if anybody has got one or has any knowledge of them...

It looks light (5kg) empty, tansparent & modestly priced....?
