Ok so this probably sounds like a daft question, but what pans do you use in the van?  I have just thrown a set of cheap ones out the only good thing about them is they were light, so need to get a new set.  Any advice

I've got several types of oven pans that I wrap in tea towels for travelling and store in the oven. One good deep frying pan (a cheap one was useless) and three different sized lidded saucepans, medium quality and fairly lightweight. We hardly ever BBQ and use the microwave for heating up things etc. Oh, we've also got a solid based kettle for the gas or the electric plate. smile

We found the lightweight camping sets were too lightweight for  the gas hob and food burned too easily, so we bought some decent medium priced pans from Ikea, 3 in all, 2 different sizes, but we rarely need to use the larger one.  All non stick.

We also have 2 Tefal frying pans, a small and a large, both quite heavy.

For the oven we have a couple of proper of dishes and trays, plus we often use foil dishes that we throw away after a few uses.

Our caravan pans are copper bottomed Prestige pans that were bought as a wedding present eons ago  ..... relegated to the caravan because we now have an induction hob in the kitchen.

A recent visit to a MH showroom ended up with us buying a folding silicon pan with a stainless base. Certainly saves stowage space.

CY, I've looked at these would be interested how you get on with them after a few months use, do they stain with things like curries or chilli etc. I believe that you can even use them in the oven is that correct?  Many thanks.

Just last week I bought a confi duck ready meal. First instruction on the packaging said 'decant contents of pouch into foil tray provided'. Trouble was there was no foil tray in the package. Out came the tefal sauce pan to do the job which was placed straight into the preheated oven. I was saved from starvation, job done!smile

As I enjoy cooking, I rarely use ready meals, pretty well never at home and very rarely in our van, where I use a set of three thick bottomed, stainless steel pans, bought in Asda, years ago. Mermaid baking tins and a small thick aluminium casserole dish, not to mention the BBQ. But for frying, I have two Ingenio pans and two removable handles.

i find my two ingenio pans are excellent in use, but the Asda saucepans take ages to heat up due to poor conduction up their thin sides. At home my Circulon aluminium based 14cm pans are in constant use, being plenty big enough for almost any meal for two. So I’d like to buy a couple of 14cm Ingenio pans for our van and a third at 16cm. I can buy lids separately, so they aren’t a problem. But it seems that Tefal no longer make 14cm Ingenio pans, and I can’t find any on the net - do any of you know where there might be some old stock?

Thanks if you can help.

Middle of the range ones with lids.  Main criteria is will they fit in the pan storage space under the oven; therefore, we do not have a large saucepan in the caravan.
