Kayaks

I am looking at buying an inflatable kayak for my wife and me to use when we are away in the caravan. I have looked at a number of different makes and it seems that there is a distinct difference between those made with Hyperlon or its rubber equivalent and those made with PVC derivatives (which may be more susceptible to punctures and in some cases burst bladders where these are inserted within the main tubes).

Has anybody experience of these inflatable kayaks and recommendations? At the moment I seem to be homing in on a Gumotex Twist, Bluewave Glider or Sevylor Maddison in that order.

Many thanks David

We took a look at the Sevylors, look well made. Look at the Itiwit range as well from Decathlon. I think you can get replacement chambers, should you get a bad puncture.

Hypalon is used in most yacht inflatable dinghies. Much tougher than PVC. I would regard one made from PVC as a Lilo with delusions of grandeur.

+1 for sevylor, I bought one off ebay for very little, but go for the ones with a 'second skin' of fabric over the pvc side chambers rather than the very cheapest models they do.  Mine has served me well.  I think the new version of mine is a WABASH but they also do some triple skin models now too, which sound good.
