a few years (at least 5 anyway) we saw an article in the cc mag about a special 'railway' event at the ferrymeadows site in peterborough my oh suggested we give it a try as i am a big fan of the railway. the atmosphere on the site was 'buzzing', most people that booked in that weekend on site were rail enthusiasts be it steam or deisel.  the whole weekend consisted of travelling the nene valley line, visits to the engine sheds, signals, a film about the nene valley being used in so many films and finally, sunday lunch on the train and a quiz. the whole weekend was superb !! i don't remember who organised it but if there reading this THANKYOU Happy.  im not sure if it was just a one off but would certainly book again if it came around. did you attend that weekend or something similar ?
