we have just been on a cl near Derbyshire, and had just finished, setting up.  all the hookup points had a pitch number on them and there was plenty of room on the field,  when a van came onto the cl stopped looked around and then parked right behind mine a gap of 10ft. the other people on site couldn't believe what they were seeing, I did complain to the owners of the cl but there attitude is if theres room people can site where they want. I was never asked to show membership card so it seems they are letting any one on,  so whats the point of paying for club membership.?

Hi All,

The CL owners should be requesting Membership Numbers/Cards either at the time of booking or at arrival if pre booking isn't required.

The CL owners do have a facility provided by The Club to confirm that the membership number is valid. This facility will not confirm names/address just that the membership number is either current or unknown. Seeing the card can also confirm that the membership number is genuine.

As with any booking there is a level of trust that the person providing the membership number is who they say they are.

It is one of the CL rules that the site is only used by CAMC Members and the CL owner should be taking the adequate steps to ensure this is the case.

With regards to spacing, there should be a space of at least 3 meters between any element on the pitch (Eg, Awning, car, caravan) and the next unit. Again, it is the responsibility of the CL owner to ensure that the required spacing is followed.

Kalamitty - if you would like to share the information of the site with us at Head Office we will be happy to look into this further for you. You can email us at CLresponse@camc.com.

Thanks

Maddie

The CL owner could, if they wished, ask to see proof of ID other than just your club membership card, such as your driving licence, or even your bank card (which obviously isn't proof, but few people might be willing to lend a non member their club card & their bank card!).  Whether a CL wants to try very hard to confirm ID when a caravanner is stood there proffering £30 for a couple of nights on their field is a different matter of course....!

And as for the parking, that is just evidence that some members of the public are closely related to a sheep. I park my car at the very far end of supermarket car parks where there are numerous empty spaces, because I like my car doors the shape they are, but sometimes return to it to find someone right next to it.  You can only pity them really.

I just wonder how folk would take to C&MC sites then asking for proof of ID. Maybe it's time for photo membership cards!wink

I have no problem with that at all, if it cuts down dishonest folk using sites.

When we have used the C&CC sites I'm always asked for 'both' membership cards when booking in. I did ask why both and was told that as we are both over 60 and get the discount they need to see both cards. Again these have no photo on them so how do they know that the man I'm with is the man who's card I'm giving them.
