I bought a Citroen Relay LWB van last year. and completed a motor home conversion  in 4 months, its been in regular use ever since. When I got it the spare wheel was just knocking about in the back. I  want to fit a spare wheel carrier underneath, I have seen some on Ebay which are modified (because they have been known to fall off) does anyone have any info on these wind down carriers that are made for , Boxer, Ducato and Relay.

Thanks Brian

I have one on my Relay based van.  It's a pain in the butt!  It does work OK, but you'll end up with a bad back if you try to change the wheel.

For a start it didn't come with a 'key' and the dealer who was happy to take my money, was totally useless at providing one.  If it was a Hex key, it would have been OK, but it's pentagonal!  Fortunately my local garage gave me a large bolt which I ground down to fit.

I'm tempted to ditch it and get a drop down one.

Yes the pentagonal keys seem impossible to find....??

I decided to buy one as a spare and to use at home when doing maintenance on the van etc to save faffing getting the tool kit out from under the seat, but cant see anyone selling them...?

Not having one at all, I  started by making a wooden key which was easy to shape, and used this as a pattern for a metal one.  Why use a pentagonal key?  I assume it's fro security, but then again, there's provision to fit a padlock on the winch.

Thanks for your advise, I've waiting for a carrier off ebay, and also seen the pentagonal keys on there.

I had a good look through Ebay.  I found the complete spare wheel winch, but not the pentagonal key for it..

BrianandSue,  even if you can't insert a link (its the icon that looks like 3 chain links, and when you put the mouse on it, it reads insert/edit link), can you cut and paste it?

If BrianandSue highlight the URL at the top of the page, right click and select copy they can then paste it in for GW

Guys,

For some reason my cut & paste isnt working but i have found them.....

If you type "Peugeot Boxer Spare Wheel tool" into the Ebay search several come up.

I have just ordered one for a fraction under £12.

Handy...
