Booking ahead is unfair at some sites

Hi everyone,

Not sure if it’s just me but since starting caravan life I have found one site which is busy most of the time and this site is chatsworth park. What is frustrating is you can book space here well in advance but noticed that people release their booked space indicating that they only booked in case they want to go. Maybe a small deposit would stop the crazy booking system.

Well the current system came good.๐Ÿ˜‰ Had two nights booked for months (which we would have taken) However, the third night that we wanted and which I had been regularly checking for, just became available and I snapped it up.๐Ÿ˜€

But people who are at work today can’t do that.

Neither can people who have no Internet, are ill, are asleep etc etc.

Are you suggesting the club should do something about people's personal circumstances?

Well I’m sure they are not always at work. I often check first thing or on an evening. On a phone they could perhaps check on a break, it only takes about a minute if you set it as a favourite.

Why can't they? You're assuming that they can't get days off when they need them? Yes some jobs are like that but other's aren't and it all depends on the T&C, one of my daughters could get time off at very short notice like tomorrow, another within a few days or a week, and another has her work days set for years ahead.

but what is a working week these days? I'd guess that there are more people that do NOT work Mon to Fri 8 till 5 than do so. I work 12 hrs Fri, Sat Sun, Emily works 4 ten hour days Mon to Fri

I am fully retired but I cannot be bothered to chase cancellations. If what I want is not available I look elsewhere. Variety is the spice of life and sometimes you will be surprised at what you find.

Sorry - can you explain further?  I dont understand.

Posted on 18/11/2021 12:21

Quite simply, we aren’t willing to spend enough. We seldom use Club Sites, and usually only at cheaper times. We prefer sites that are basic (the Club is losing these annually) and we aren’t willing to just buy or take out other products such as insurance, merely because it says “CAMC” on it.

We stay Members because of the CL network. Always make sure we get our £54 back in the special offers. The Club wants high spending folks who aren’t that bothered what a holiday costs them, and luckily for the Club, there are plenty happy to oblige. Folks are different, make their own choices.

TDDA, I thought the 'please explain' might have referred to this...?

"I have just been looking at the latest vacancies and job descriptions for the six latest new posts created to work out of HQ. We are going to be analysed dependent upon outfit and over a lifetimes Membership."
