Coming home through Lyndhurst in the New Forest a few weeks ago, turning left at the traffic lights I had to turn quite sharp because of traffic entering from the left, low and behold, a loud bang as the rear offside of my van removed the wing mirror from a Transit Mini- Bus on my right at the lights waiting for the lights to change on her side. A local shop keeper came running out to inform me that this is a weekly event with caravans at these traffic lights.

I then took my van to two dealers along the M4 not a million miles from each other, to get estimates for the repair to my van for insurance purposes. A week later the estimates arrived, now for the I DON'T BELIEVE IT BIT !!

1st estimate £375.00 + VAT= £450.00

2nd estimate £1,200 + VAT=????

When I informed  the insurance company with the  two quotes and remarked about the huge difference they were not at all surprised, and obviously the van went to the dealer with the cheapest quote. The repair has now been carried out, cannot detect the repair, an excellent job.

The moral of the story; beware the traffic lights in Lyndhurst and always make sure you get more than one quote for any repairs.
