Currently touring , I have had to sadly let my boy go to doggy heaven . MAX had been suffering from Pancreatitis for a few weeks although his appetite was virtually nil he decided to stop eating completely. After a scan a further problem was detected and we had to make that decision every pet owner dreads. It does hurt very much though.

Very sad news particularly if you are away from home. But you will know in your heart of hearts that you have made the right decision, but, yes it does hurt.

You will have happy memories of your time together - will be thinking of you.

Oh dear what an awful decision to have to make, you must be heart broken. Our 2 year old dog has Lymphoma and we nearly lost her so we know how you are feeling. We are thinking if you and please accept our heartfelt sympathy

Thanks all I just feel sad and down but I do know in my heart I have done the right thing for MAX , our holiday now seems weird without him , but I do have another dog so I have to think of her as well and give her a nice time.

Hi, so so sad for you. You sent a lovely supportive message to me yesterday regarding the bad news about my little Westie. I really feel for you. They are such a part of our lives and give so much love. Like you I have another dog to consider when the time comes. Give her lots of love (I'm sure you will) and time will help you all to heal. My thoughts are with you...

PS is your avatar a pic of Charlestown? We were there 3 weeks ago! One of my special places.

We know exactly how you feel having made the same decision around 6 weeks ago , we are away in the caravan at mo only the second time without our best mate , we are comfortable we made the right decision at the right time , you have had to do the same , its a choice made of love and compassion , we now have a framed picture in our van to remind us of the 16 years of happiness Fred brought to us , remember all the fun yr dog brought you .

I have said goodbye to 4 lovely Labradors over the last 30 years or so, 2 boys, Benson  and Barnabas, 2 girls, Cassie and Wendy each were individuals with their own characters and specialities. The pain does heal, especially if another is already on the scene, as it was  with us, and our rescue yellow Lab Lucy. They have all Caravanned with the family and now it is just us 3 in a motorhome.  They are part of the family no less. Only other Dog lovers will understand. Chin up.
