If you are travelling to France and Spain from Jan to March, please be aware of these caterpillars which are lethal to dogs. You will see their white, cotton wool type coccoons in pine trees whilst driving. They only live in 1 type of tree and are only dangerous until March. Just be vigilant if walking in any forests. Some of these trees are close to motorway aires. This is not meant to scare, just to make you aware as we didn't know anything about them Until getting to Spain. Google them before you go so you know what to watch for.
