Poorly dog

Little Lizzie has developed a lump in her neck area.  Obviously we are really worried about it.  She has been to see the vet who thought it might be an infected saliva gland.  Unfortunately the antIbiotic and anti-inflamatories did no good so they took a soft tissue sample.  It came back and the result seemed complicated but they didn't feel there were cancer cells.  As the lump is near to the jugular they wanted more investigation so they have referred her to the Willows, Solihul.  She is due to go on Wednesday so we are all keeping our fingers crossed....

Thank you so much for all your really kind comments.  Of course, I'll keep folk updated.  She doesn't appear to be in any pain but I think it's a bit uncomfortable.  She's resting a lot..... but then she always does.  smile

It's obviously been a dog's  week this week. Molly went to the vet this week with a severe limp, she ended up having an OP for a torn cruciate  ligament. She's now wearing a collar of shame & feeling very sorry for herself.

If only I could do pictures .....

That's nasty MM, hope things go well. Had one of our Labs out of a buster collar a fortnight now, my shins and the furniture are recovering slowly!

It's always really sad to hear of all these pet illnesses.  The thing that distresses us most is that you cannot really express how you feel about their illness and they can't express to you what they are feeling.  When we take her to the consultant on Wednesday we will obviously have to leave her, she won't know what's going on, only the feeling that we have left her with complete strangers.

Best wishes to all with doggie troubles

Back from the consultant vet at the Willows.   He did a scan and is pretty convinced our vet was right.  He says it's a leaking saliva gland.  The cure apparently is to remove the offending gland so we've booked her in for the surgery on Friday 17th March.  The worst thing is she'll have to stay in over night (at least one night and may be two).  She won't like that - and neither will I!!

Poor Lizzie but at least you have a diagnosis and the condition is treatable, David. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Poor you and poor Lizzie but it sounds quite positive so far (except for the separation!)
