I  have just got off the phone with DEFRA to clear up requirements for travelling to the Republic of Ireland.

You do need a pet passport, microchip and rabies injection 21 days before the date of travel, you DON'T need to see the vet in Ireland before you return of have tapeworm treatment.

Bit of a pain for people like me who travel over while the dog sleeps in the car on the ferry but best to know before you can't get them back into the UK!!
