Pet Enclosure / Awning for Motorhome

We'd like to get some kind of pet enclosure for our 2 dogs. My preferred option is a safari room (or similar) but we have a 2014 AutoTrail Frontier Navajo and have been told that they don't work with the awning!  I need something where I can leave the motorhome door open and give the dogs freedom to go in and out with the security of knowing they are safely enclosed. I would also be happy to use the awning with some kind of wind breaker, but would prefer something with windows so they can see out.  They love watching the world go by :)  If anyone can offer any useful tips I'd appreciate it.
