After more than fifteen years of cat ownership ( last one died ten weeks ago ) we decided to get a dog .
After a lot of deliberation we decided on a beagle pup, to be truthful and hearing all the tales from caravaners about how hard it can be , i feel the joy i had forgotten about having a dog is a small price to pay and will have to wait till next season to see how he adapts to caravan living .

Your dog will adapt easily if you are relaxed with him. I got two Westie pups ( brother and sister) who joined my two elderly Westies ( sadly now only one) Their first caravan holiday was at about 6 months old, once they were out of the chewing phase. They have taken to the caravan just like the others and now go wild whenever they hear me pick up the keys.

Our Lakeland Terrier had her first outing in the caravan at three months old, a weekend in the Peak District August 2017. Her second outing was our seven week trip to Scotland earlier this year. She was a bit iffy with food for the first few days but then quickly settled down. She is now a seasoned caravan dog and loves it! Dogs are very adaptable and will take their cue from you. You’ve got a nice size dog for caravanning and have a lot to look forward to. Have a great time with him.

Our Cockapoo absolutely loves being away in the van - I think because she gets even more attention than she does at home (if that's possible!), She enjoys being outside, on her wire, just watching the world go by and all the lovely walks we find around the various sites we go to.
The only time she gets uptight is when we're getting the van ready to go away and she doesn't really settle until I put her in her cage in the car. I'm sure she thinks we're going without her!
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your new puppy. Enjoy the time you spend together,

Our springer spaniel took to caravanning like a duck to water. Hope yours does kevine. I see that you are in Mid Glamorgan as well. We took ours to training classes at Llandow run by ex police dog handlers. It was well worth the investment in time and money.

As soon as I got the caravan out, onto my drive, my springer used to jump into the car and stay there as she did not want to miss out on a trip, even though we were more than two days away from departure.
She never learned about timing, but will always be regarded with fondness even though we no longer have her with us.
On the whole dogs love caravanning, it is just a matter of control whilst on site.
