Husky puppy

Hi, glad your pup is enjoying the caravan , the first piece of advice I would say is never let him off the lead , husky's love to run and get selective deafness when trying to call them back , I use a 30ft training lead on ours and she can have just as much fun and excercise , you have proberly already found out the Huskys are not like other dogs and can have a mind of their own ,both of you need to be consistent with your commands and what you want him to do , they are very intelligent and need stimulation or they get bored very quickly and can be very destructive , I use a treat ball so she has to work for her food , Kongs work well filled with wet dog food and then put in the freezer ( takes them longer to get it out)

Huskys will eat almost anything but have quite sensitive tummy's so it might a bit of trial and error to find what suits him , and they will only eat what they need to fill their tummys ,so don't worry if some days they don't eat ,it's quite normal

Locally were we live we have found a fresh dog food provider & he seems to be loving this, which we have brought enough with us. 

Interesting they will go a day without food.

We have a 15ft dog lead which seems fine at the moment.

The only time we let him off the lead is at home in a secure dog run.

Would you advise taking him to puppy training classes?

Yes I would take him to training classes ,but don't expect him to be as good as crufts standards, they can be very stubborn and will need a firm hand ,but we insist that ours sits for her food and at kerbs and when someone wants to stroke her ,but also the classes will get her used to other dogs , but ours prefers people to other dogs 

The advice I'm giving has worked on our dog ,and each dog if different and other members may give you alternative advice,so with a pup it's all trial and error ,but that's what makes it fun 

Dont let your pup do something now ,that you don't want it to do  when she's grown up , rules and boundaries

I remember seeing him every day when we drove/walked/cycled past your pitch!

We saw him tethered outside and completly asleep on his back after savaging a cardboard box or whatever he'd gotten hold of haha.

Very cute and a lot better behaved than our son and daughter (we were around the corner from you, perhaps you heard that our daughter was just entering her 'terrible twos'?).

Glad he enjoyed the IOW (weather was fantastic), and it didn't look to us like he needed any 'extra' entertainment from what you were already doing.

We never heard your children, in fact found all the children on the site very polite & well behaved, like us were very conscious of our little furry child making too much noise.

Iow was a lovely site & we're hoping to return again next year.

Hi Husky dog, he's doing great, thanks. 

At York this weekend for the Lawns caravan show, took twice as long to go round with all the attention he's receiving, loving it all as you can imagine!

I think we have the laziest husky pup though, walking still with L plates, only needing about 20 mins walking per day.

can you remember what your husky pup was like at pup stage & on average what walks do you currently do a week.

Hi, good news that he is doing fine , on the walking side of things i kept them to about 1/2 hour untill she was about 8 months old and then gradually would get longer , dont be tempted to walk her to far at this stage as they need to build up their mussels, she now gets about 11/2 hour walk in the morning (up at 5.30) and about an hour in the evening, the rest of the day she runs about the garden

but they do get lazy somedays ,our's will just lay on the floor and expects us to bring her her treat !!

Do you use a harrnes ?, as they have quite deliicate throats and can be damaged by useing a long lead with a collar, it's the sudden stop that does the damage
