In 40 years of owning labs I have never had fleas , until now , I had just taken Jack for his health check and the vet said there is an epidemic of fleas this year , a week later I combed Jack and found them , he cannot have frontline or stronghold as it nearly killed him , the vet recommended Beapher tick and flea shampoo than the Beapher flea and tick spray , I washed all his bedding , bathed him for 3 days combed him with a tick comb night and morning , Wednesday I sprayed him with the flea spray , and today no more fleas ( hopefully I have combed all the eggs out ) but I will still be combing him once a day . I swear by garlic tablets but because he had been ill I stopped giving them , but he's back on them now , he will still be getting sprayed with the flea spray once a week with the advice from the vet .

Make sure you get rid of them from the house otherwise they still come back. I give mine tabs from the vet which will kill fleas after they have drunk his blood therefore getting rid of them in the house, car, caravan etc. Normally a dog has tapeworms if they have fleas as the tapeworm egg is in the flea and when the dogs licks himself the egg is ingested.

Hi cariadon , yes I've sprayed in the house everyday to be on the safe side and he has been wormed I've also done the caravan as a precautionary measure . It seems strange I took him to the vet , I wonder if he picked them up from there .
