Eating too fast?

My 10 year old epileptic lab is obsessive about food.  Lab trait I know but....  I wonder if eating too fast is harmful?  My niece has  special bowl for hers.  I see there are several types on the market.  Years ago someone suggested I put large stones in the bowl but I thought the risk of swallowing one was too great!  She has never had competition for food either.

I notice the new thread on epilepsy the dog has something obsessive behaviour mine is definitely hyper with a few things.  My vet didn't think drugs would help so I have her on herbal calmers that definitely make seizures less frequent.  Weeks apart now rather than days with no pills.  (They started at 6 month intervals and she has had a few tests done).

So after all the his time is wolfing her food bad for her?
