Recently in Cumbria a woman has been attacked by cows whilst walking on a public footpath. She had been walking with her dog on a lead when she was knocked to the ground and trampled sustaining injuries requiring hospital treatment. The advice from a farming representative and also the mountain rescue is to let go of the dog lead. The cows will chase the dog which being small and more agile will escape.
